Established Industry Workforce.

Crisp County is an ideal choice for the location of your business. We have the infrastructure in place to support your business well into the future. We continue to upgrade the community services so your business can keep up with the demands on doing business in today's global marketplace. We continue to upgrade our fiber networks and T1/DSL service throughout the community in order to provide seamless service to keep your business connected.

Our location along the I-75 and GA 300 corridor and our competitive electric rates make us an ideal Distribution and Manufacturing location. Our low operating costs and designation as a Federal Rural Empowerment Zone make Crisp County very enticing and affords a total of $7,000 in job tax credits for each new job created.

Unions are non-existent in Crisp County and our wage rates, though low by National standards, offer our citizens a livable working wage and at the same time allow your business to operate at the lowest costs available in Southwest Georgia.

Manufacturing, distribution and the service industry make up over 60% of our economy. Agriculture still plays a significant role in the economy as well as the daily life of community and our history is still "rooted" in Agriculture, but our base is diversifying, growing, and changing with the global economics of today.

Our community is a great place to live and raise a family but it's also very conductive to conducting business. Low operating costs, tax incentives and our job tax credits make Crisp County a very profitable place for your business. Give us a call or e-mail us and let us share with you the advantages of doing business here.

Workforce - Training & Education.

Georgia's Quick Start Program is nationally recognized for providing high-quality training services at no cost to new or expanding businesses in Georgia.
Since 1967, Quick Start has provided customized training for hundreds of thousands of employees and for thousands of businesses and industries throughout the state. Quick Start has been singled out by Fortune, as well as Training, and Expansion Management magazines for its effectiveness in providing the most comprehensive and advanced training in the nation.

Quick Start's programs are custom-designed and their training is delivered through a network of 28 technical colleges, 31 satellite campuses and two associated university programs throughout the state. Typical services include training consultation, instructional design, implementation, training and evaluation. Appropriate training technologies will be utilized and may include broadcast quality video, training guides, job aids, trainer guides, transparencies, interactive video, animation, multimedia, and others as appropriate.

Training can be conducted for both pre-employment and post-employment programs. For businesses locating in Crisp County, expert training services are provided through South Georgia Technical College. www.georgiaquickstart.org

South Georgia Technical College provides credit programs leading toward certificates, diplomas and associate degrees. The Continuing Education Department offers courses designed to meet specific needs identified by the community. The Economic Development Programs Department serves the community
through specialized training and Quick Start training.

Specialized training for specific companies is available through South Georgia Technical College. Programs can be customized to meet specific training needs and offered at various times and locations for the convenience of the business. Registration procedures are simplified, and fees may be billed to companies.

South Georgia Technical College under the auspices of the Technical College System of Georgia sponsors the Quick Start Program for new and expanding industries. Quick Start offers customized training programs, pre-employment training, and assistance in recruiting and screening through the Georgia Department of Labor.

The resources of South Georgia Technical College are an invaluable asset in providing customized training to new and existing industries in the service area. Economic and industrial development authorities are encouraged to investigate the advantages of this program.

The Georgia Department of Labor provides a wide range of services to job seekers and employers. It collects, analyzes, and publishes a wide array of information about the state's labor market. This information provides a snapshot of Georgia's economy, job market, businesses, and its workforce. Data on jobs and workers, including labor force, employment and unemployment, industrial growth, occupational trends, and wage rates, are increasingly important to remaining competitive in the global marketplace. DOL offers assistance with screening and recruiting potential employees. The agency provides an adequate pool of applicants for the employee selection process. The company establishes its qualifications and, through a computerized system, DOL reviews applicants and matches their skills and competencies to specific jobs. These services are available for both start-up and ongoing operations.
